JEAN CHARLES DE MENEZES

This is a brief report on the shocking circumstances that saw an innocent man brutally killed on the London Underground.

On July 7th 2005, London was terrorised by suicide bombers who targeted busy stations during sush hour and 29 innocent comuters were killed, several more lost limbs, sight, hearing and any self-confidence.

Two weeks later, police were surveilling a block of flats where an alleged terrorist was living and crucially so to Mr Menezes.

People were filmed leaving the block but just as Jean left, the police officer filming had disappeared to go to the toilet!

The scent (of the wrong man) was eventually picked up. He jumped on a a bus to Brixton station. There he saw the station (unrelated) was closed. So he got back on the bus - normal behaviour right? Bizarrely this was seen as suspicious.

Eventually Jean arrived at Stockwell followed by armed officers. He picked up a free newspaper (not the behaviour of a man about to blow himself up), went through the ticket barrier (didn't leap it as police originally said) got onto the train and sat down.

At this point he was surrounded by police who pumped seven bullets into his head. Shocking.

Last week the Metropolitan Police were found guilty of breaching Health & Safety issues, H&S of the general public that is.

This seems (excuse the pun) a cop-out. It was alleged the victim had leapt the barriers, had continued to run when alerted by police officers, it was also alleged he reached for draw strings on his rucksack. All these claims we now know are lies.

Jean Charles was calm and sat in his seat when he was shot, this is according to another lady in the carriage.

Sir Ian Blair, Commisioner of the Metropolitan Police was under pressure to resign - he refused.

Only the Home Secretary Jacqui Smith can sack him and she supports him.

What do you think?
